bandgria:

This May, we will be dusting off our football boots ahead of the Orkney Folk Festival’s ‘Orkney vs the Rest of the World’ football match in Stromness. Training for this has already begun and although it may divide us as a band (Louise will of course be playing for Orkney) we believe a bit of competition isn’t a bad thing, and will try not to be sore losers when we hand over the cup to Orkney…

Oh, and we’ll be playing a few gigs there too!

(Photos by Louise, from the 2010 Orkney Folk Festival. And, yep, that’s festival Director Bob Gibbon, slacking off from the game, on his mobile phone, letting the side down!!!)

A few months ago I took some photos of Scots Singer Alistair Ogilvy (who I sometimes play fiddle with) for his album artwork. His debut album Leaves Sae Green is available now from his website (where you can see more of my photos). Alistair will be launching the album with a free concert/party at the Universal in Glasgow on the 26th March.

Another video… I love this track on the album ‘Tunes’ (Sharon Shannon/Frankie Gavin/Michael McGoldrick/Jim Murry) especially the second tune, Lizzie in the Lowground by Liz Carroll.

I’m playing at the Star Folk Club, St Andrews in the Square in Glasgow this thursday evening, with the Alistair Ogilvy band. We are supporting singer/guitarist Allan Taylor, it’s our second gig as a band, looking forward to it! :)
