Ola and Arnie, my great aunt and uncle. Ola recently was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Design from Robert Gordon University.

“A local jewellery designer and pioneer has picked up a special award from the University she attended more than fifty years ago. Ola Tait has received an Honorary Doctor of Design from Robert Gordon University. She began studies at the institution’s Gray’s School of Art in 1959, becoming the first graduate from its jewellery department. Following time in Canada she returned to Orkney and launched her Ola Gorie range from her store and workshop on Broad Street. Ola says the award from the University was completely unexpected..”
