Louise Bichan Graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Visual Communications, specialising in Photography. She grew up in Orkney and has had a interest in art since a young age. After completion of a course in Portfolio Preparation at the Orkney College in 2007 Louise had an exhibition of her photography at The Reel in Kirkwall, Orkney and in 2008 she won a photography competition run by Young Scott and her photos were hung at a gallery in the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness.
Growing up in Orkney, Louise has always been influenced by the landscape and nature around her. As well as photography, Louise enjoys playing the fiddle and is part of a folk band Skalder who won a Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections in 2009 and have recently released their first album, the cover for which Louise designed.
Most recently, Louise has been commissioned to take promotional photos for various artists including 2009 Young Traditional Musician of the Year Ruairidh MacMillan, The Paul McKenna Band, singer Rachel Sermanni (who Louise sometimes plays with), clarsach duo The Duplets and singer and mandolin player Laura-Beth Salter. She has also designed and put together album artwork for Danny Kyle Open Stage winners Rura and fiddlers Mike Vass and 2010 Young Trad Musician of the Year, Dan Thorpe.
